looking good. let's head back to the desk. >>> we begin with breaking news from oakland. police are investigating three homicides. there are two different scenes. one in oakland. one in west oakland and one in east oakland. ktvu alex savidge is live on walnut street. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. the sergeant here on scene told me in this case a woman was found stabbed to death early this morning. officers are still out here on scene. you can see a couple patrol cars parked out here on this street. the stabbing happened inside this apartment building in a second floor unit. we'll show you video we shot a short time ago. this is all taking place in the 5800 block of walnut. neighbors called 911 just about two hours ago. around 2:30 this morning. when officers aryed here on scene they went inside this unit and found this woman with multiple stab wounds and she died here on scene. a sergeant told me a short time ago police do have a possible suspect. a man in custody at this point. they are not saying much about who this person is. and the motive at least at this point

breaking news and a violent couple hours in oakland. three people were killed in two separate incidents. a double shooting and a stabbing. alex savidge is live on walnut street where a woman was killed a few hours ago. >> this is still an active crime scene for oakland police. what they found here this morning was a woman that was stabbed to death. it's all playing out. the crime scene located inside this apartment building that is up the road here from us on the right hand side. you can see at least one squad car is parked outside. we want to show you video we shot in the last half hour. woman's body was found inside the second floor unit. this all began according to a sergeant when a neighborhood called 911 around 2:30 this morning. officers arrived and found a woman with multiple stab wounds. she eventually died here on scene. police have taken a man into custody who may have been responsible for the killings but at this point the sergeant tells me the motive for this stabbing remains unclear. meantime on the other side of the city oakland police are piecing together a shooting that lef

heating up in alameda county. new at noon, allie rasmus joins us live in oakland to explain what the sheriffs want to do with the drones and why the aclu opposes the plan. >> reporter: well, today, the alameda county supervisors were supposed to consider whether to allow the sheriff's office to buy a drone or as the sheriff says, he prefers to call it, an unmanned aerial device. but the item was taken off the supervisors' agenda, just as a couple of civil liberties groups had a press conference expressing concerns. the alameda county sheriff's office unveiled what they might purchase, this device. in the past month, alameda county received around $31,000 in state grant money to buy an unmanned aerial system known to some as a drone. the devices have live hd quality video and infrared capability. and that's raising the concerns of civil liberties groups. >> we have nothing on paper that will bind the sheriff and accountability methods to prevent privacy issues. so we should not be rushing into this. >> it's law enforcement's job to protect people's privacy and to think we would use th

because of the work and the jobs that have been, you know, held by oakland residents for years. and when we asked and talked about workers from the oakland arena being able to have first shot at the jobs over here, they were very supportive of that. and i think that speaks a lot about what this project is. it's not just a san francisco project. it's a bay area project. it's a project in which working families throughout the bay area will be able to make a living. so, i just want to thank the warriors for seeing it in those big pictures and big terms. and, mr. mayor, for you to really have the insight and the leadership in bringing everybody together. i'd like to introduce wyling hoover who is our leader in oakland. and after wyling comes up, i'd like johnny stakes who is a worker at the oakland arena and billy who works at the ballpark here to say a couple words. >> hi, wyling from local 50. i must say that we will be sad to see the warriors go and we prefer for them to stay in oakland. we're really delighted at how we're being embraced here today and being welcomed into san francis

require treatment. paul chambers joins us live from high street in oakland. paul, you just got the answer on what caused this hazmat incident. paul? >> reporter: that's correct. it's been about two hours since everybody happened. there is a crew still out there. they are packing up right now. you ke see -- you can see from the chopper, within the last half-hour, the scene has been cleared. we a situation that had fire, paramedics, police on the scene evacuating the building. you can see a hazmat crew was sent out here to the scene and entered the building. the call came in around 10:00 a.m. after fire porkers say a -- workers say a worker found a puddle in the back of the floor. two workers complained of i irritation and coughing. crews worked to identify the mysterious substance while others were isolated. >> there was a small can of pepper spray that had discharged. after it discharges it becomes a liquid. >> reporter: now, two employees were treated and released here on the scene. there were customers inside. however, they were evacuated and didn't come in contact with the peppe

eyewitness news in high definition. >>> breaking news in oakland four people have been shot all within a couple blocks of one another. cbs 5 reporter christin ayers is there. chris christin. >> that's correct we have a massive scene out here along sixth street. a long scene. you can see multiple cruisers. this area encompassing about six blocks where we're being told shootings happened and multiple people involved in the shootings. multiple victims from what we're hearing right now. four people shot. one person according to authorities is in critical condition at this moment. we don't know the conditions of the other four currently. and information just coming in at this moment. i talked to a couple neighbors in this area that heard the gunfire a short time ago before we arrived on scene. they described hearing maybe a dozen shots and coming out and seeing people laying in the street. we're hearing four victim so far in this east oakland neighborhoods. a very large presence in east oakland. no word on whether authorities have been able to track down the shooters. christin ayers

shooting in oakland this morning that wounded four people. officers say they found three men suffering from gunshot wounds around 7:30 this morning near international boulevard, between 84th and 85th avenues. all three men were hospitalized. a fourth female victim was dropped off at the hospital. all of the victims are expected to be okay. police say two people were arrested in connection with this shooting. >>> a teenage boy is in critical condition after a drive-by shooting in san francisco's intermission district. police say just before 1:30 this morning, four men in a car opened fire on the teen near the intersection of potraro avenue and 24th. the wounded boy managed to walk a block to san francisco general hospital. the victim's name and age have not been released. >>> we are on storm watch again tonight. the latest system is bringing lingering rain across the bay area, starting this morning in the north bay, then moving south. here's a look at the scene, at san francisco's union square, was the wet weather didn't deter holiday shoppers. it is causing delays of up to 50 minutes a

oakland police department. mayor jean quan and police chief howard jordan were both there speaking. now, basically what the deal involves is that civil rights attorneys and the city of oakland have agreed to a deal. they did so in federal court that would prevent the federal receivership of the oakland police department. the court documents outline a settlement that still has police reform an oversight just not by the department of justice. the agreement must be approved by the federal judge currently overseeing the case. instead of receivership attorneys, lawyers are calling -- instead of receivership, excuse me, lawyers are calling the deal receivership light. the department would be overseen by someone called a compliance officer. that person would then report back to the judge. ktvu's john was inside that room there where that press conference just ended moments ago and he's been following this story. john, take it from there. >> all right, frank, yeah, they just wrapped up this press conference about one minute ago literally. they just walked out. they're do ago town hall meet
